Welcome to my Music Therapy webpage. My name is Pam Sachs and I am a board-certified music therapist northern California, in the town of Chico. Music therapists use music to accomplish non-musical goals. We work with people who have special needs; mental, emotional or physical challenges, whether nearing the end of life or at the very beginning or somewhere in between. Music therapists work in senior facilities, day centers, hospitals, schools, rehab facilities and private homes. To use music therapy, clients don't need musical skill. Music is used to engage and assist in meeting the goals of the client.
If you are interested in music therapy, and curious whether I may be of help, please give me a call at the above phone number. I'd be glad to chat with you and answer any questions you might have. I love talking about music therapy and am always glad to be of service.
Should we decide that music therapy is a good fit for you or your loved one, this is what to expect. The first meeting is an initial assessment to determine the goals and objectives to be addressed. Music therapy sessions will be adapted to the strengths and needs of the client, their music preference, and their age. Individual and group sessions typically run from 30-60 minutes and occur once or twice per week.
I offer services at the following locations:
Home-based Music Therapy – sessions take place at your house
Facility-based Music Therapy - sessions take place at a facility
Hospice Music Therapy – sessions for client and family take place where the client resides
Assessment and Consultative Services – I can consult with facilities, families, and organizations regarding the most cost-effective way to use music to meet your needs, including implementing the Music and Memory program (individualized ipod listening program).
